Promotion details:
Earn 2,500 bonus Membership Rewards (Select Tier) points per month $500 or more is charge to the card monthly, which is 30,000 Membership Rewards Select (or MRS for short) points.
For some individuals (maybe in specific region or in specific browser), there will be an extra 20,000 Membership Rewards Select points if you spend $3000 within 3 months after receiving the card.
In total the potential Membership Rewards Select points might be 50,000 for the first year, which is at least equal to 500 Canadian dollars.
Membership Rewards Select points can be used to book travel through American Express Fixed Points Travel Program, transferred to Marriott Bonvoy program points, Hilton Honors program points, redeemed for Amex pre-paid gift cards or redeemed for statement credit.
This card has a monthly fee of $10 but I think it is negligible when compared to the card’s perks.
Main benefit of this card:
- 5X points on grocery purchases, eating out and food delivery (equiv. to at least 5% cashback ). But there is an annual cap of $30,000 spending calculated from the day of activating
- 2X points on transit, gas and travel purchases
- 1X point on other purchases
- Comprehensive travel insurance, except that Trip Interruption/Cancellation is not included
